Hey! Watch my Facebook Movie!

Most were bitten by the bug of the moment, happily so. And those not bitten ended up being the most bugged of them all. Yeah, one's talking about the "My Facebook Movie" that has been a raging craze for the last two days.

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Facebook has been inviting users to make "My Facebook Movie" by visiting a special website while being logged in. A short video, featuring a collection of most-liked photos, posts and life events, would be automatically produced and posted on the user's timeline.

The result was that feeds on Facebook were flooded with posts of these "movies". The more the friends, the more the "movies".

Many, who did not fall for the app, were obviously irked. Some took it out over Twitter. @IMaryan3vil joked, "Just before Valentine's Day, A girl broke up with her boyfriend because his Facebook Movie didn't show her as main Actress." @shah_manasi had enough after a point, "Are we done with #facebookmovie yet? Don't get me wrong, It's an amazing tool but I am about to get 100th movie on my FB wall." @nandythegreatz intoned sarcasm: Everyone happy with the fake side of their life. #FacebookMovie."

Malavika Madhukar scoffed at the idea. "It makes you look like such a wannabe. Why would you want to see a movie of things (pix and posts) that you have yourself put up over the years? And why would you even want your friends to see them again and again?"

Since it went on and on, Sowmya Kanchugar was disgusted. She said, "I'm fed up of this FB movie thing. It's an OD. Whenever I log in, I am welcomed by over ten movies on my wall. You lose interest when something is overdone like this. If you have already seen movies of three of your friends, you don't wanna watch the rest. Similarly, I don't know how many would actually watch my own FB film."

A different, happy, take came from Shreya GS: "There would be many pix/posts you would have put when you were feeling blue, or maybe a pic which doesn't look like you anymore. But I am self-obsessed, a fan of my own, and I love my FB movie. I don't care if anyone watches or not. It's like a recap that will always bring a smile to my face."

Swati Bala went a step further, "People join FB to stay connected, read others' posts, and acknowledge comments on images. Happiness comes from little things; we should learn to appreciate the same rather expressing disgust on FB videos going viral."

Archana Iyer balanced it out with, "While the Facebook movie app is not up to the mark, I think it's cool to see 5-6 years of our Facebook journey in 1.10 mins. So pass marks can be given." Sylvester Mardi, however, had a suggestion. "I think they should have come up with an app that could devise a music score for each person according to their personality and pictures. And, it should have been a bit longer."
